Press Reviews

Another of the new 'liquid gels' that can be taken without water. This one has added sea salt for that 'fresh from the ocean' taste. Verdict... Like a very thich drink. It's easy to get down and the taste is sweet without being too sickly. There's a slight sugary aftertaste.

British energy company High 5 has introduced a range of isotonic gels that can be taken without the addition of water. What's good here is that the gel tastes very much like a sports drink in that it's not too strong or over powering and very easy to get down. We have tried them for a few weeks now with no problems and they've become a staple before longer outdoor swim sessions.
Each 60ml sachet, which is a little bigger than some, delivers 24 grams of carbohydrates to help keep you fuelled. The gel is very thin in terms of viscosity and easily swallowed which makes taking them on the move a doddle. For those wanting a kick as well as an energy boost there's also a caffeinated version in citrus plus flavour.
