Torq Guarana Energy Gel

Torq energy gel with guarana formulated with research-proven 2:1 Maltodextrin:Fructose blend for 40% greater carbohydrate delivery and along with all the 5 electrolytes to aid hydration. Just like regular Torq gels but with 89mg of caffeine per gel for a bit of an extra kick.

This pack contains 20 gel sachets.

Recommended Usage

If using a combination of nutrition products, you should be aiming to consume between 1.3 to 1.4 grams of carbohydrate per kg of bodyweight per hour with each 45g gel providing 28g of carbohydrate. The Torq gels with guarana deliver a very potent dose of natural caffeine so you should use them in combination with regular Torq gels for endurance events using the guarana gels towards the end of the event as an additional energy booster.

Torq's research is based on a  9% carbohydrate concentration, which equates to one Torq gel per 320ml of water which is their recommended usage  under 'normal' or cooler conditions. If you use Torq gels in hot/humid conditions, you should do so with plenty of water and Torq recommend 500ml of water per gel in these conditions. As with lots of sports nutrition products you should experiment in training and find the balance that works best for you,

Torq energy gel with guarana is available in Forest Fruits or Banoffee flavour.

Press Reviews

Bike Magic

Amazingly, they do actually taste like Banoffee pie, much to my surprise. They're very sweet however, even I with my sweet teeth found them a little sharp. But you very quickly get used to it. The gel sachet is just 45g, smaller than many other popular gels, which makes it easier to swallow simply because there's less to get down.

One word of warning: the gel is very sticky, stickier even than other gels, which I found out the hard way by spilling most of one gel over my gloves and handlebar grips - a mistake best avoided. On the plus side the gels contain no artificial sweeteners and use only natural flavours, and are diary free.

Onto the important stuff, and each gel contains a 2:1 Maltodextrin/Fructose mix with the Banoffee flavour boasting an added punch of 89mg of caffeine, more than any other gel and something you really notice when using them. Especially after four or five! Torq claims the Maltodextrin and Fructose combination attributes to a higher delivery of carbohydrate to the working muscles.
