Final weekend for VAT free prices

New VAT rules will mean that after this weekend many sports nutrition products that were previously VAT free will now be charged at the standard 20% VAT rate starting from the 1st October 2012.
There has been extensive lobbying by the sports nutrition industry since the change was announced to try and get the government to reconsider it's decision but unfortunately the change is now going ahead and prices on all energy drink powders and protein drink powders will increase by 20% from the 1st October.
New MuleBar Flavours Now In Stock

MuleBar products have been a bit thin on the ground over the last few months and we've struggled to get stock but they're now back and with a couple of great new additions to the range.
First up there's the new Jimmy's Chocolate Orange energy bar which joins the popular range of Mule Bars flavours.
And secondly there's the new coffee flavoured Cafe Cortado Kicks Energy Gel that packs a 100mg caffeine hit derived from the coffee content and guarana. Mule Bar have also tweaked the recipes of their other gel flavours to improve the taste and slightly boost the electrolyte content.
New Clif Bar Pack Sizes and Flavours

Some exciting news from Clif Bar, after a long period of only be able to get the bars in limited flavours over the UK the three current flavours are being joined by three new flavours that should be available over the next few weeks.
The full range of flavours will be -
- Chocolate Chip
- Oatmeal Raisin Walnut
- Blueberry Crisp
- Crunchy Peanut Butter
- Chocolate Almond Fudge
- White Chocolate Macadamia
Any even more good news is the pack sizes are going up to 68g per bar rather than 55g but the price is staying the same making them even better value for money.
We'll add the new flavours to our store as soon as we take delivery of them which should be in 2-3 weeks time.
Science In Sport Rebrand and Relaunch Range

Science In Sport have announced they are rebranding and relaunching their range of sports nutrition products. Regular SIS users will remember it wasn't too long ago that they last changed pack designs but this rebrand goes a step further with a number of products changing name to align them more into families of products.
The main changes that are being made are summarised below -
- PSP22 Drink is now to be branded as GO Energy
- Smart 1 Gels and Drinks are now to be branded as GO + Caffeine
- SIS Burner Gels are now to be branded GO + L-Carnitine
- Super Hydro will become GO Hydro and changes from a powder to a tablet form
- Rego Recovery changes slightly to become Rego Rapid Recovery and also has a slight change of formula
- Build will be branded Rego Protein Powder
- Build Bar will become the Rego Protein Bar
- Nocte Nightime Recovery will be brande as Rego Night
The changes will probably cause a bit of short term confusion but what they've done does seem to make sense to us even if it creates a load of work for us in terms of updating the website and adding new product images.
Coming Soon: GU Brew Electrolyte Tablets

It seems that Electrolyte tablets are currently the hot product in the sports nutrition world, with Nuun recently launchimng their new flavours in the UK only to be followed almost immediately by High 5 launching their new pink grapefruit Zero tablets. No joining the party are the GU Brew Electrolyte Tablets. These have been available in the US for about a year but it's only now that they're going to be available through UK stockists.
They should be available in April and in a choice of four flavours: peach tea, lemon lime, orange and pink grapefruit.
High 5 Zero Electrolyte Pink Grapefruit

We've just taken delivery of High 5 Zero Electrolyte tablets in the new Pink Grapefruit flavour and they're now available to purchase in single tubes or 8 tube packs.
Out mixed flavour packs have also been updated so if you want to try a selection of all the High 5 Zero flavours we have 8 tube packs which inlcude Berry, Cherry Orange, Citrus and Pink Grapefruit flavours.
New Nuun Flavours Now In Stock

We now have a range of the new Nuun flavours in stock, there's Fruit Punch, Grape, Strawberry Lemonade and Orange to choose from. They're available to purchase as single tubes, 8 tube single packs or are also available in mixed flavour packs if you want to try them all.
The new Orange flavour replaces Orange Ginger which has now been discontinued.
Clif Shot Energy Gel and Turbo Energy Gel Now In Stock

We've just received stock of the new Clif Shot Energy Gel and Clif Shot Turbo Energy Gel.
The Clif Shot Gel is available in Chocolate, Citrus or Razz with the Chocolate and Citrus being caffeine free whilst the Razz provides a mild 25mg of caffeine boost. The Turbo Energy Gel is only available in Double Expresso flavour and packs 100mg of caffeine per sachet which we believe is the highest caffeine content of any gel (100mg is roughly equivalent to an espresso coffee).
Which ever flavour you go for you're getting 100 calories per 34g sachet to provide a quick energy hit along with essential electrolytes to aid proper hydration. The gels have been available in the US for sometime and based on customer feedback they now feature a new thinner consistency making them easy to eat.
We've tried them, the flavours are good, it seems the consistency varies a bit by flavour and depends on how warm you keep them, they're thicker than an SIS Go Gel or High 5 Isogel but not quite as thick as a GU Energy Gel.
Like most Clif products the Shot Gels contain no artificial flavours or sweeteners and are made from 90% organic ingredients (85% for the Turbo Gel).
One neat feature is the "Litter Leash" packaging which basically keeps the tear tab attached to the packet after you open them so helps reduce litter.
New Clif Shot Bloks Tropical Punch

Clif Shot Bloks are now available in the new Tropical Punch flavour, like the current orange falvour they contain 25mg of caffeine per serving (3 bloks).
Shot Bloks are a great no mess, no fuss way to get a burst of energy and make a great alternative to gels when you fancy something a but different. Each pack delivers electrolytes to help keep you hydrated along with a 50/50 mix of complex and simple carbs.
Each pack contains 6 Bloks - equivalent to 2 servings of traditional gel but unlike a gel you don't have to eat them all at once, just pop a blok in your mouth as and when you need it.
Like all Clif products, Clif Shot Bloks contain no artificial flavours or sweeteners, and because they use pectin (a fruit extract) rather than gelatine, and they are suitable for both vegetarians and vegans.
