Powerbar Fast Fuel Energy Gel
Powerbar Power Gels are based on Powerbar's C2MAX carbohydrate mix that contains a mix of glucose and fructose sources designed to deliver energy faster than glucose alone. Research has shown that consumed regularly during exercise,a mix of glucose and fructose can increase the amount of carbohydrates that can be digested and used by working muscles up to 55% which can lead to an improved performance on average of 8%.
As well Powerbar's C2MAX blend the gels also contain extra sodium (200mg per sachet)which is the key electrolyte required to compensate sweat loss and can also help to stimulate the consumption of water and aid hydration.
Blackcurrant and Green Apple flavours contain additional caffeine and deliver 50mg of caffeine per sachet.
Recommended Usage
Take up to 4 pouches per day. One pouch every 20-45 minutes during exercise with 400 ml water.

Wendy Shaw: PowerBar Caffeinated Gels, an instant energy boost
I use the PowerBar Green Apple and Blackcurrant caffeinated gels as my energy boost for long distance running including Marathons, Ultra Marathons and Multi Day events. I find the caffeine ensures you get the mega boost of energy you need straight away and they contain more than enough carbs and sodium to keep you moving faster for longer. The high sodium does mean you need to take on plenty of water though. They are not as thick as some gels and taste great.
